i know how to smile

{♥} one of the latest news on vogue from the Paris 2011 couture show was about the launch of a limited-edition accessories line called the {rendez- vous} collection from roger vivier. i am pretty amazed by their silk pump, ‘nouvelle vague’ (new wave) as i look at those embodiment of cute flowers constructed out of colorful beads and wood petals. aren’t they familiar to you,too? if you are a louis vuitton disciple, the limited edition ‘cosmic blossoms’ line created by japanese artist takashi murakami for spring/summer 2010 must have caught your attention,too. YES! they are both belong to the same type of ‘genre’ of ‘smiling flowers’ in both roger vivier and louis vuitton school! {check out tokyobunnie for more pictures of ‘cosmic blossom’ collection}

what makes you smile? takashi murakami has once said in his MOCA exhibition tour that he created ‘smiling flowers’ in ‘kawai vacation’ {see the painting below} to bring a message to the children as well- you have to smile no matter how hard life is treating you. i guess that when you see thousands of smiling flowers, you’ll have to smile anyways! {and of course, when i see the deliciously playful tutti sweety bracelet, i think of some colorful japanese jelly candies which make me smile like a little girl!}

i like the way high fashion and contemporary art collaborate together and bring beautiful smiles on people’s faces.

{end note: the tutti sweety bracelet is LV’s fashion jewelry, which was not designed by takashi murakami}

    The cosmic blossom is just a bit much for me (remember the scarf we saw in the store?).. It's a bit too, umm, too colorful?? But every smile is definitely very cute!

    {haha, sometimes i think of those flowers just as works of art, it's fun to talk about them, but not necessarily wear them…you see they are only designed in 'limited edition',too….i guess that's partly the reason!?}
