Atelier GX/ GX-2 Paris

Hey Everyone, I’m Kelly and I’ll be guest blogging for Gabrielle!! I’m so honored to be a guest blogger here on 5am je t’aime, Gabrielle’s blog is just chocked filled with beautiful and romantic images.

I’ve been interning in Taiwan for the summer, and have been researching a profound amount of international designers. And it has opened my eyes to the world of Asian Fashion. Happily, I discovered Gaowei + Zinzhan, who are a duo from China who actually own a couterier in France! I think it is so exciting and wonderful to see Chinese designers entering the couture industry in one of the world’s fashion capitals. They have two brands:  AtelierGX as well as there ready to wear collection, GX-2 Paris. To me it seems they embody elegance and use patterned fabrics to create something that really stirs up one’s imagination. I really love the work they create.

Luxurious Circus {Tsumori Chisato aw10}

Spotlight. Stage. Magic. Boom!

Circus, Circus…Tsumori Chisato dazzled me again with her aw10 ready-to-wear collection, themed as “Circus”. Fall/Winter doesn’t manifest itself only in dark and somber or snow white, it can totally be a playful and vibrant colorful world, such as juicy couture‘s {latest aw10 campaign}! Here’s what Hadley Freeman from {style.com} described Tsumori Chisato:

“If Vivienne Westwood and Celia Birtwell had a child, raised it in Japan, and reared it on a diet of manga cartoons and Disney films, that child would grow up to be Tsumori Chisato.”

I would say, Tsumori Chisato is the Japanese {Elsa Schiaparelli}, the fashion artist. Shiarappali was the greatest rival of Chanel, one of the most important names for fashion design during the early 20th century. Her fame was not as high as Chanel but her fashion artistry was totally amazing. Chanel took fashion design as a metier of craftsmanship, while Shiarappali regarded fashion design as a form of art, an art full of life, color and surprises… This is how I see Tsumori Chisato’s design. Fabrics are her canvas. Her aw10 collection is full of daring and contrasting colors and patterns, bringing an atmosphere of lively circus….{I somehow vision the “molin rouge” here}. Surprising the viewers with the small details such as feather, ropes, jaw-dropping tights, obi-ish belt and drapery, drapery…and drapery again…. the collection is more than glamorous and whimsical. She invites us to come exploring in her aesthetic of manga + bohemian style! I am now a devoted disciple to the TC school!

{I’m sharing this amazine aw10 line with the “circus” theme from an independent fabric/print design company {Spoonflower}.

For those who live far away from Asia, the online designer’s boutique {la garçonne} provides a wide range of choices for Tsumori Chisato’s apparals!

Here you may need a doze of Britney Spear’s {Circus} for some magic!

Made in chocolate

The Korean fashion brand {Chocolate} has it’s latest collection just published on their website. They have lovely lovely items to complete your fall wardrobe. Military style jackets, oxford shoes, items with fancy fringe, delicate laces, leopard prints & messenger bags…I’m in love with all of them. The collection mostly comes with simple silhouettes, as well as androgynous draping and layering. The color palette is also modest consisting mostly of earth tones and black. On top of it, you can find some cute and girly pieces,too, modeling by their gorgeous models.

I’m sharing their collection here with you with some gorgeous autumn pictures from {Jackie Rueda}. Enjoy!

Urban chic in Yoco Nagamiya’s world

Fashion illustration is the beginning for a great work of fashion design. I’ve always had a lot of respects for designers or illustrator’s drawings. Not only do fashion illustrations show a representation or design of a garment but also serve as a form of art. Fashion illustration shows the presence of hand and is the {visual luxury}. The early 20th century Chinese fashion illustration was my research subject in school and I would love to include this subject in 5amjetaime and make it a regular feature here. As some of you may notice, we have just revamped our site recently, and we picked the illustration works by a famous Japanese fashion illustrator Yoco Nagamiya for 5amjetaime.

Nagamiya is a prolific fashion artist, whose works have been published in numerous magazines in Japan and UK, including vogue, happer’s bazaar, 25ans…etc. One of her latest works, showing the popular fall camel cape fashion also graced the page of InStyle (UK, august). Nagamiya’s works are not only popular among the fashion print media, but she also does a lot of cover design, ad campaigns and commercial design. The women’s images which she portrays are forever chic, stylish and confidence. Fluid and abstract feelings are sometimes the dominant tone of a women’s look and her outfit, but they always appear in a gracious postures, showing off the latest fashion on them. Confident and metropolitan, feminine and romantic, the girl in Nagamiya’s world represents a myth and a legend in styles.

arm candies + pretty shoes

I believe that great accessories are the essence of a stunning look from head to toe. We all appreciate the exquisite quality and design of accessories of high-end luxury brands, but sometimes a fun, easy-going piece of faux leather with extremely affordable price can bring a big smile on your face,too! One thing I miss the most is the on-line {yahoo.tw} shopping. There are always lots of surprises and cute pieces you can find. My stylish high-school friend Cindy, an “office lady” who works on a 9-5 schedule is a very savvy & smart shopper on yahoo. She has recently brought my attention to {Vemar}, a Taiwanese accessory brand on yahoo.tw. It’s line is full of lovely lovely arm candies. Of course, I have also to add my dear shopping queen Kristine’s recommendation of the Taiwanese shoe brand {Amai}.There are actually lots of similar brands and products, you’ll have to enjoy the hunting fun on yahoo.tw by yourself! I have to say the Taiwanese fashion accessory brands are of the great potential to rock!

{ the Taiwanese singer & model T-ana (Xiao-qin Ding) is the latest model for Vemar lookbook!}

Let’s check out Cindy’s {click here for Cindy’s vemar} top picks: she believes that trendy, a la mode and multi-functional bags are prefect for work/ after-work partying and are the must-buys for an office lady! I would also love to add my own secret shoe shopping list for a late summer/early fall ! Enjoy all the arm candies + pretty shoes!
